Teaming Young Africans have rated China as the most influential country on the African continent.
The “African Youth Survey 2022” says the Asian country’s impact on Africa has been positive and developmental.
The Survey, commissioned by South Africa's Ichikowitz Foundation earlier this month took into cognizance, reports from 15 African nations.
According to it, 76 percent of young people view China's influence as positive while 77 percent see China as the foreign country with most influence on their continent.
Ivor Ichikowitz, chairperson of the Ichikowitz Foundation, says the African youth have faith in the future of the relations between China and Africa.
Since the year 2001, China has invested about 200 billion dollars in infrastructure loans and foreign direct investments.
The intervention of China on the African continent is believed to be changing the socio-economic dynamics of Africa with the the young population playing active roles.
According to the UN, Africa boasts of the youngest population globally; with 70 percent of sub-Saharan Africa under the age 30.
A 2020 estimate puts Africa’s youth population at almost a billion, which represents 22.7 percent of the world’s population.
